The floors you find in Lagos
Lagos has almost every kind of tiled floor, because it has almost every era of building:
- Old-town houses. Townhouses and flats in the historic centre often have older glazed ceramic tiles, sometimes in small formats with a lot of grout. Grout is usually the first thing to go grey. See ceramic floor cleaning.
- Apartment blocks. Around the marina, Meia Praia and the newer parts of town, apartments from the last few decades are usually ceramic or porcelain, with sand from the beach doing most of the damage.
- Villas. Villas towards Porto de Mós, in the hills behind town and on the Bensafrim and Odiáxere sides tend to have large open-plan porcelain floors, where grey film and walkway marks show across a big area. See porcelain floor cleaning.
- Restaurants and bars. The old town is full of them, and kitchen floors there are a heavy-use job. See commercial floor cleaning.
Access in Lagos: what helps us
The machine, wet vacuum and chemistry travel in a van, so access is what we most need to know about in Lagos:
- Old town. Many streets inside the walls are narrow, cobbled or pedestrian, and parking is tight. Tell us the nearest place a van can stop; we carry the equipment from there.
- Stairs. Older buildings often have no lift. That’s fine; just mention the floor and the stairs in your photos or notes.
- Summer. In July and August traffic and parking around the centre and the beaches are slow. If your dates are flexible, early-season or autumn bookings are easier to schedule.
- Holiday lets. If guests are coming and going, give us the gap between bookings and the key-holder contact.
